Los Cantaros Hotel is located in the historic centre of the city in an area called "Ribera del Marisco", where a wide selection of dining and entertainment venues are to be found. Many of the city's monuments, cultural centres and museums which reflect the important historical-artistic treasures El Puerto de Santa María are also situated within a short distance of the hotel.
The hotel has 39 double rooms, all with bathroom, magnifying mirror, hair dryer, quality cosmetics and many with spa tubs. The rooms also offer satellite TV, Canal +, Wi-Fi, telephone, pillow menu, minibar, air conditioning, heating and room service. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the building andn there is also a PC with free access to hotel guests that do not have mobile devices. The facilities include a charming library and a lounge where breakfast buffet is served and guests can also order meals which may also be enjoyed on our terrace at the front of the hotel or in the more intimate interior garden. For our more athletic guests, the hotel has a small but fully-equipped gym.
Reduced-rate parking is available to guests of the hotel in a secure location approximately 30 metres from the hotel entrance.
The building occupies the area upon which the ancient women's prison was housed until the end of the 1970s, from which the name of the adjacent square "Plaza de la Cárcel" - Prison Square.
In 1983, during the demolition of the old jail to make way for what would be the new Hotel Los Cantaros ***, a series of 17th century urns were uncovered. The majority of these are now housed in the Municipal Museum, with a few left on exhibition in the hotel lounge as a testament to the find.
The redesigned Plaza de la Carcel plays host a well maintained fountain, dating back to 1839, that was one of several dispersed throughout the town to provide water to the townsfolk. Boasting four taps, the main construction was built from a variety of materials from Tarifa, Algeciras, Seville and the San Cristobal sierra.
